How the Service Works
Existing evidence such as survey pins, fences, stones, old paint, flagging, and other visible boundary evidence is used to follow the existing line. The line is flagged and then marked with durable forestry-grade paint.

This service does not establish a new boundary, resolve a boundary dispute, replace a licensed survey, or provide a legal determination of property ownership. When the location of a boundary is uncertain or disputed, a licensed professional surveyor should be consulted.

Painting Standard
Typical line marks are approximately 4 by 6 inches and are positioned so the boundary can be identified from both sides and while looking along the line. Corners can be marked more prominently for visibility.

Locate & Flag - $100/hour
Boundary Painting - Starting at $300/mile
Minimum Project - $600
Pricing assumes normal woodland working conditions. Exceptionally difficult terrain, vegetation, access, or other conditions may require additional charges. Any adjustment will be discussed before that work is performed. This is a non-survey boundary-marking service. Feicht Forestry uses available existing boundary evidence to reasonably locate and mark property lines for woodland management purposes. The marked line is not represented as having survey-level accuracy, and minor variation from the exact legal boundary may occur. Painted trees are selected on or near the identified line and will not necessarily stand directly on the legal boundary. If the exact legal location of a property line is required, or available evidence is insufficient, conflicting, or disputed, a licensed professional surveyor should be consulted. Feicht Forestry uses high-quality forestry boundary marking paint for visibility and durability. Painted boundaries should generally be inspected and repainted every 5-10 years to maintain a clearly identifiable line.
Locate Existing Boundary Evidence - $100/Hour
The first step is determining where the existing property boundary can be reasonably identified on the ground.
Feicht Forestry searches for and evaluates available boundary evidence, which may include:
Survey pins and monuments
Existing or historic fences
Stones and other corner markers
Old boundary paint
Existing flagging
Previously established lines between known corners
Other available physical boundary evidence
The amount of time required varies considerably from one property to another. A property with easily located pins and clear boundary evidence may move quickly, while older or poorly marked boundaries may require considerably more time.
Locating and flagging is billed at $100 per hour for actual time worked.
Flag & Paint the Boundary - $300/Mile
Flag the Boundary
Once sufficient evidence is found, the proposed boundary is temporarily flagged. Flagging the line before painting provides a clear path between known boundary evidence and allows uncertain areas to be identified before boundary paint is applied.
If sufficient evidence cannot be found, Feicht Forestry will not guess at the location of the property line.
Paint the Boundary - Starting at $300/Mile
After the boundary has been sufficiently identified and flagged, Feicht Forestry marks the line using high-quality forestry boundary marking paint designed for durability and visibility in woodland conditions.
$300 per mile under normal woodland conditions
$600 Minimum Project Charge
Boundary marking requires more than the time spent applying paint. Every project involves some combination of communication, property and map review, scheduling, travel, equipment preparation, locating boundary evidence, flagging, and completing the actual boundary work.
$600 minimum per boundary-marking project
The minimum applies to the overall project rather than being added as a separate fee. For projects exceeding the minimum, normal locating, flagging, and painting rates apply.
